Racing in Newcastle and NSW area 2009

Hi all. For those coming to Newcastle for a visit or Posted in.
Here is a list of the racing available in the local area.

 

Track Racing and Training.

Tuesday nights starting 1800 at Newcastle Velodrome in Adamstown,
Just behind Broadmeadow Horse racing track.

Wednesday night Track Racing. Same place.

Saturday Mornings from about 0900 More Track training.

Leading up to major events.
There maybe a road trip to Dunc Grey Velodrome in Bankstown to do some training on the boards.
The trip takes around 2.5 hrs each way and costs $10.00 to train on a world class velodrome all day.

During Winter There is FNWTR
Friday Night Winter Track Racing.
This is at Dunc Grey Velodrome and Starts at 1900 hrs.
A few of us go down there occasionally. You normally get back in to Newcastle at around 0030 - 0100 Saturday morning.

[b]Road Racing

In Newcastle you can pretty much race both days on the weekend if you are over 30 years old.

Fridays during Daylight Savings you can race the Hunter Districts Cycling Club Summer Twilight series.
These are at Kooragang and Start at 1800 hrs.
A bunch usually meets at the junction of Stewart Ave and Wharf Rd at around 1715 hrs to ride out there.

Saturday's During Summer you can race with the Kooragang Cycling Club at 1430 at Kooragang.
During winter Hunter Districts run a race series out at Black Hill from 1400 hours ( this was the site for the 2006 - 2007 ADO Championships)

Sunday's Hunter Valley Veterans Cycling Club run racing at Kooragang (again).
During Summer it starts at 0800 hrs and during winter it starts at 0900 hrs.

On the 3rd week of every month Hunter Districts runs a Criterium at Steel river industrial estate.
Things kick of at around 0830. Some weeks A and B grade go of first. Other Weeks c,d and E go together.

Through out the year we also have what is called Central Division Racing.
This is an amalgamation of all the local clubs and we race against each other.

We also usually have a few guys that go away when work permits to go to State and National Races.
